"The beautimus Julie Forester, another amazing artist off of Nashville indie label, Luna Chica Records, caught the eyes and ears of every guy n’ gal in the crowd right off the bat with her upbeat, classy and soulful country tunes. Her full vocals and heartfelt lyrics of life, love, and loss left lasting impressions as viewers and fans gossiped her name throughout the rest of the show. Julie Forester - Plus 6 Live
by Chuck Dauphin
The state of Texas has given us some of our most unique musical talents, and with Julie Forester beginning to make her presence known, it looks like the musical reputation of the Lone Star State will continue to be upheld for quite a while.
In trying to describe Forester’s style, words can’t really do the job. It’s something that you have to hear to believe. Is it Country? Yes, but there’s also just enough Soul to have her feeling quite at home three hours west of Nashville in Memphis. One thing is for certain----once you hear Julie Forester, you won’t forget her, and that’s a promise.
More so than any newcomer I have heard in quite some time, Forester exudes the word charisma. I could tell it from seeing her at a recent “Writers’ Night” in Music City, but on record she is very much her own person. There’s really nobody that I can compare her to, and trust me, that’s very much a compliment.
This EP balances a nice mix of up-tempo songs like the infectious “Sky” and “Sorta Kinda” which are both strong showcases for her undeniable talents……but it’s with the ballads that she slays! (Slays? Is she some kind of action hero? I wouldn’t be surprised!)
“Hard Not To Be Easy” is very well-written, and she sounds as if she is having a blast with the clever lyrics, “You Only Love Me When I’m Leavin,” is Contemporary Country with somewhat of a Stax Records vibe that needs to be heard, and then there’s “Let Me Be Your Lover.” This song is one of the sexiest, most sensual, dynamic tracks I have heard in a long, long time. Forester doesn’t just sing the lyrics----She belts it from a place down deep---like a siren in the night. And, she just might improve the sales of butter at the grocery store. ( A weird analogy, I know….but you’ve got to listen to the disc to get that illustration!)….Just like with the album, you’ve got to hear it to believe it!
So, does it sound like I’m ready to join the fan club? Well, give me the membership form right now. There is no doubt in my mind that Julie Forester has what it takes to be a STAR.----not a “hit artist” or “popular entertainer,” but yes….S-T-A-R. All the ingredients are there. Visit her website and then sign on the dotted line after me….but just remember where you heard it!

About the live performances
"I had the pleasure of working with Julie this year and I wanted to keep her as my house act! I have a big circle around her name in my file folder with 'KEEPER!!!' in big letters written on it. She has a great voice and with a 'bring you in' charisma, tells the stories behind her songs. I book around two hundred and fifty acts a year and Julie Forester is one of the best! Hands down! She's aways welcome at The Swallow At The Hollow."

About Julie's recorded work, including the Dance With Me EP
Julie Forester’s release is a surprise. She has a beautiful voice. It is high and pure, reminding one of Kassidy Osborn of SHeDAISY. She wraps slow, breathy, and sultry into a neat package in several of the tracks on ‘Dance With Me’.
Miss Forester has more to her than ballads, though. ‘Petty, Jealous, and Small’ is a rockin’ number that channels some attitude from the likes of Patty Loveless and Terri Clark. She flirts vocally in the fun ‘Feelin’ The Fall’, and breaks your heart in the slow ‘They Danced’.
Her self-titled unplugged CD is more bare bones and stripped down. It feels very intimate, and in a lot of ways showcases her voice much better than instrumental accompaniment does.
‘You Only Love Me When I’m Leaving’ is probably the best cut on the six song release. There are precious few female artists that can handle the lows like she does, managing to infuse smoke into her vocals right before soaring them in the chorus.
The unplugged CD is not only slow songs, and definitely not a rehash of ‘Dance With Me’. Another nice note is the apparent thought that Forester puts into her arrangements. The mandolin on ‘Where Do I Go’ manages to put an unexpected rocking twist into the song.
Forester manages to bring something new to the table, and she is definitely worth paying attention to. Somewhat disappointing is the fact that there are so few tracks on each album; she definitely leaves you wanting more.
Particularly notable is the stripped down and intimate ‘Love Me Some’ on the unplugged CD.

It was with some excitement that I stumbled across a five song EP from Houston born singer/songwriter Julie Forester called DANCE WITH ME. Julie has appeared on stages all over the world including London’s Piccadilly theatre and has toured all over Europe and the UK playing the late great Eva Cassidy in a stage production about her life. Compared to acclaimed artists like Jewel and Trisha Yearwood, Julie has a lot to live up to and some big footsteps to follow in and she does so effortlessly. Oozing with talent, Julie is a big star in the making. Julie is everything you could want in a singer and more. This EP will give listeners a glimpse into the type of music Julie can perform as well as allowing them to see just how fantastic she is vocally. “Feelin the Fall” is a wonderfully polished opening song that proves that Julie can sing. Her voice is powerful and strong, full of emotion and passion. As soon as you hear this opening number you know that you are listening to someone with bags of talent, someone who is just a little bit special. “Forget” is a slower number bursting with emotion. This is a strong number that really showcases Julie’s vocals. Modern country fans will enjoy this lovely song. “They Danced” is another slow number that sees Julie’s voice take on a soft, delicate quality. Julie gives a passionate performance on this number. A truly brilliant ballad that Julie puts her heart and soul into singing. An outstanding song and performance that would give any currently established artist a run for their money. “Petty Jealous and Small” sees the mood change completely. This is a much heavier song that has echoes of Miranda Lambert’s style. Julie shows on this EP that she can sing slow ballads that really get under the listener's skin as well as fast lively songs that really pack a punch. Julie is anything but one dimensional. “Alive” is the final offering on this EP and is another slow number. This is another highly polished song that floats nicely along and brings the EP to a fitting close. This EP does well to whet the appetite of listeners and leaves them silently and eagerly begging for more.
